Done with the Drama!

"Oh really? So you never wait until the last minute on a deadline or phone bill because secretly you kind of love the drama of not knowing whether or not you're going to make it?"

Yep. That line from one of the best movies (ever) has been on repeat on my brain for the better part of the last month, but today I am thrilled to announce that the last major check mark has been placed on the official "moving to Italy" list. Seriously, there has been a smile on my face since 4pm local time when the contract was signed, rent paid, and keys in my possession. Yes. KEYS. I still don't know how to work the alarm system, but have been assured that an English speaking electrician will give me the tutorial.

Things really did fall into place- from appliances to electricity and my contract kicks in on Friday. If you've been keeping tabs on my days here Friday is my 91st day in country and therefore my first day off of the TLA entitlements. It's been a stressful and very trying at times event but all part of this life changing experience I ventured out on nearly 90 days ago.

So yes, I still need to figure out when all my stuff is going to arrive but after chatting with my coworker/sounding board for all things Italy she too thought that I should wait until after France. I'll try to figure that all out tomorrow....I'm still way too happy that I have these keys in my possession!

Keys for Italy home & home home

  1. OK, I have to say it...that key just looks cool! It reminds me of one that might open a castle door. Or a rusty ancient lock on a dungeon cellar. Or a pirate treasure chest. Man, I need to move to Italy just for the keys! And the men. And the food. And wine, did I mention wine?

  2. Speaking of wine...I found another white that I like tonight! Hey, it's Italy so of course I had to celebrate with some vino. You know I get to bring 300 bottle back with me- right? I <3 the Navy.
